Chinn is not necessarily a Chinese name

It is actually a surname whose roots originate from the Anglo Saxon region, denoting “chasm” or “crevice.”

According to houseofnames.com,the surname Chinn was first found in Somerset where they held a family seat from ancient times. A plethora of Anglo Saxon Chinns migrated to the United States from Australia, England, and New Zealand in the early 19th and 20th centuries.

There is actually a Chinn coat of arms - early records and derivatives of the name mention Henry de Chine who was recorded in County Cambridge in the year 1273. Thomas Ching of Yorkshire was recorded in the Yorkshire Poll Tax of 1379.

Here's my Chinn coat of arms. Now, where on my body should I get this tattoo'd?
